Danwake Recipe

Name: Danwake

Origin: Northern Nigeria (Hausa region)

Ingredients:

  • Bean flour
  • cassava flour
  • water
  • palm oil or groundnut oil
  • ground pepper
  • seasoning cubes
  • salt
  • yaji spice (optional)
  • fried onions (optional).

Steps:

  1. Mix bean flour and cassava flour in a bowl
  2. Add water gradually and mix to form a thick, smooth dough
  3. Bring a pot of water to a boil
  4. Scoop small portions of the dough and drop them into the boiling water
  5. Allow the dumplings to cook until they float to the surface, indicating they are done
  6. Remove the dumplings and drain excess water
  7. Transfer into a bowl and drizzle with palm oil or groundnut oil
  8. Sprinkle ground pepper, seasoning, and optional yaji spice
  9. Mix gently and serve warm
