Description

Ghana Fufu is a smooth, stretchy, and dough-like staple food made by pounding boiled cassava with plantain or yam until soft and elastic. It is one of Ghana’s most beloved traditional dishes and is deeply rooted in cultural identity and communal dining. Fufu is not eaten alone, it is typically served with rich, flavorful soups that soak into its soft texture, creating a deeply satisfying and comforting meal.

Traditionally prepared using a mortar and pestle, the pounding process requires rhythm, strength, and teamwork, often making it a communal activity. The result is a silky, lump-free swallow with a mild taste that perfectly complements bold soups like light soup, groundnut soup, and palm nut soup.

Fufu is more than food in Ghana, it is a symbol of heritage, hospitality, and celebration.
