Ingredients It Favours:

  • Fresh Oha leaves (Ora leaves)
  • Assorted meat (beef
  • goat meat
  • shaki)
  • Stockfish and dried fish
  • Palm oil
  • Cocoyam paste or achi (thickener)
  • Ground crayfish
  • Pepper
  • Seasoning cubes
  • Salt. Optional: Ugu leaves
  • ogiri (fermented oil seed) for added flavor

Steps:

  1. Wash and season meats, then boil until tender
  2. Prepare stockfish and dried fish, soak if necessary, and cook until soft
  3. Heat palm oil in a pot, then add crayfish, pepper, and seasoning
  4. Stir in thickener (cocoyam paste or achi) to achieve desired consistency
  5. Add cooked meats, stockfish, and dried fish into the soup
  6. Add sliced Oha leaves and cook for a few minutes—do not overcook to retain texture
  7. Adjust seasoning and simmer briefly before serving
